We finished by visiting the Beacon site at the end of the wall which overlookes a deep river gorge where a suspension footbridge gives visitors a thrill in crossing the chasm (if they have the nerve, which we did!) .
Tonight is Saturday and we are tuning in to the BBC Football site on the internet to follow the fortunes of the Silkmen v Lincoln City. For those of you who do not know "the Silkmen" is the nickname of the Macclesfield Town FC.
